PILATES CLASSES Private, group & reformer classes
We recommend that you begin with our four (4) private starter package applicable for first time clients for a personalised introduction to the fundamentals of Pilates. After that you may continue with the private sessions where the exercises will be tailor-made to suit your needs. If you have a specific goal you would like to achieve for example to recover from an injury, to enhance your sport activities, or merely because you enjoy our undivided attention, then personal classes would best meet your goals.
Duet/ Group classes
Alternatively you may choose to begin with our group classes starting with beginner reformer classes. If you are unable to find a class that suits your time, why not form your own group class with your friends or family, we need ideally 5 persons or a minumum of 3 persons to start a group. You may also choose to do class in a semi-private setting in the form of a duet class. Classes are offered in group reformer, mat pilates, TRX®, and Gyrokinesis® classes at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Group classes are not only a great way to reap the benefits of Pilates but also to make new friends and to keep in touch with the current ones!
Most of us have done or seen Pilates done on the mat in the gym. While this is fun, it is also very challenging as it is done against gravity. Joseph Pilates invented the Reformer equipment to help everyone to access his method even more. Probably the most commonly seen equipment in any Pilates studio across the world, the Reformer is best known for its versatility. Exercises can be done lying down, kneeling, sitting, standing, with feet/hands against the footbar/shoulder rests, with or without props, and many other variations. With adjustable springs and different body weight this dynamic machine creates a variety of resistance to stretch and create strength with flexibility. Most suitable for beginners this machine will sculpt and tone without bulk, leaving you feeling longer and leaner at the end of the session.
The current fitness craze, TRX® is a type of suspension training which uses your own body weight to create different resistance. Developed by a former US Navy Seal, this form of resistance training develops strength, agility and balance. A fun and athletic workout, you’ll feel toned and sculpted at the end. As fun as this exercise is, at times it has been criticised as being not suitable for beginners with weak core and poor stability. At Urban Spring however TRX® classes are coupled with Pilates foundation exercises to create core strength in the pelvis, trunk, and shoulder girdle. Once this is achieved, then only one is brought into the more challenging realm of TRX®. We strongly believe this will better ensure good form to prevent injury whilst having plenty of fun of course!
GYROKINESIS® is another exercise regime that complements well with Pilates. Developed by Julio Horvarth GYROKINESIS® exercises allow one to work on the entire body through all elements of spinal movement: forward, backward, side bends, twists and circular, as well as all other joint articulation. This approach systematically and gently works the joints and muscles through rhythmic and undulating movements. These movements stimulate the body's internal organs while different corresponding breathing patterns are integrated along with the movements. After a session one tends to find more flexibility and ease with their daily movements as well as feeling more relaxed, stretched and energised!
