Frequently Asked Questions
Introduction
Iām a beginner to Pilates, where should I start?
Welcome to Urban Spring Pilates! We are so excited to have you start your journey with us.
We always encourage newcomers to start with our Private 1:1 classes where our instructors can offer a more personal introduction and guidance, tailoring the program just for you.
For Group Reformer, our Reformer Fundamentals class is perfect for you. You will be in the capable hands of our instructors who are mindful that you are new to this. After that, we recommend progressing to Reformer Abs & Arms, Reformer Butt, Legs & Thighs, and finally, the Reformer Sculpt for a full body tone and sculpt session.
With Group Mat, we offer Slow Flow and Power Flow classes, which incorporate elements of stretch. For a more Pilates core-focused exercise, sign up for Pilates Core and Pilates Sculpt. And if you're looking for a cardio workout, join our Barre classes for a faster-paced, full body session.
Do the classes cater to all fitness abilities?
Yes, our group classes are designed to accommodate all fitness levels.
However, if you have any medical concerns, please seek medical advice prior to class. And if you require modifications to exercises, please inform the instructors before the start of the class. You are also welcome to take breaks and work through the class at your own pace. We aim to foster a safe and encouraging space with no judgment.
Kindly note that our hot mat classes are not suitable for pregnant clients, clients with high blood pressure, and individuals under the age of 16. Please contact us for 1:1 private classes instead.
Is there an introductory offer for newcomers?
Yes! First-timers to Urban Spring Pilates an enjoy a 50% discount on their first Group Reformer, Group Chair and Group Mat classes. You can try out both types of Pilates classes at half the price.
Please note that this offer is only available for purchase on our Urban Spring Pilates App and is valid for one-time purchase only.
What is the difference between Equipment and Mat Pilates?
Equipment Pilates uses one or a combination of Pilates apparatuses, while Mat Pilates is without the apparatus, just you and the mat.
Mat Pilates forms the core, foundation, and basis of Pilates. With only you and the mat, you depend substantially on your own body and specifically the core for stability, control, and mobilisation. In “Hot” classes, the room is heated up to 42°C, which allows for better stretching and sweat.
Equipment Pilates includes an array of Pilates apparatuses, such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel and the Spine Corrector for Private 1:1 classes. They offer resistance and support, allowing for a full stretch and strengthening works. Overall, this results in improved body posture and more muscle definition.
Our Duet 1:2 and Group Reformer classes currently focus on the Pilates Reformer.
To optimise your Pilates experience, we are firm believers in a well-rounded practice that balances mat exercises with studio equipment techniques.
